Joshua 5-6: The People and Conquest of Canaan

Joshua 5 & 6

This episode covers Joshua 5 and 6. The conquest of Canaan begins.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My Bible Bender from this passage was the comparison between Joshua and Jesus that Susan outlined. As she put it: ”

  • Joshua and Jesus can be compared – they both fought evil.
    • Joshua was chosen to drive evil out of Canaan so Israel would live well in the land.
    • Jesus came to drive evil out of the world so that people could live in eternity.
    • Joshua’s victory came through shedding the enemy’s blood.
    • but Jesus’ victory came through the shedding of his own blood.
  • In the conquest of Canaan Joshua points to Jesus, the true conqueror, who will end evil for all time.”

While not a super lengthy comparison, it still was neat to see and be reminded of how the Old Testament always pointed to Jesus. Had you thought of comparing Jesus and Joshua before?

What was your Bible bender from Joshua 5? Did you learn anything new?
