Joshua 10-11: That Time the Sun Stood Still

Joshua 10 & 11

This episode covers Joshua 10 and 11. Joshua keeps going in the herem war against the Canaanites, while the Canaanites fight to survive by seeking alliances.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My takeaway from this episode revolves around fear and failings. Joshua had the challenge of leading a nation that constantly fumbled due to fear and lack of obedience. Thankfully, God works out His plan, whether we have fear or failings. Susan says it this way, “Although Joshua had stepped out of God’s will in the alliance with Gibeon, God would work it for good and give Israel victory despite their failings. The same was true for the rebellious Israelites who failed in fear to take the Promised Land 40 years ago. God worked it all for the good of those who love him and is now accomplishing the plan through the 2nd  generation.

The Apostle Paul in Romans 8 encourages us in a speech about present suffering for future glory. It starts in verse 18 with the words. “ I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”…And he proceeds to assure us that despite our failings and suffering, we can have confidence in the promise of future glory because he says in verse 28…”And we know that in all things God works for the goodof those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
