In this episode, we cover Numbers 7-8. In Numbers 6, Israel received God’s blessing. Within these following chapters, the people are going to respond to God’s blessing with a dedication of gifts to God in gratitude. It is going to be a parade of tribes presenting their gifts in order.
HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:
While the walk of the tribes were interesting to hear about, my main takeaway from today’s episode was the insight regarding the focus on the lampstand. God never seizes to amaze me with his attention to detail. No detail is forgotten or too inconsequential to him. The connection between the lamps and the Levites was another cool layer of detail. Sprinkle in the connection between the lamps, Levites, and Jesus, and you have a new Bible bender.
Susan explained it this way, “In Exodus 25, we read a beautiful description of the lampstand. The information added here in Numbers 8 is that the lamp is positioned facing forward which would be toward the table, casting light onto the 12 loaves of bread. This arrangement visually portrayed God’s intention for Israel to abide in his presence. It is Christ who has become our ever-present light in the heavenly tabernacle. Jesus said ‘I am the light of the world’ and ‘I am the bread of life’ using both symbols of light and life to describe himself.”
What was your Bible bender? Did you learn anything new?
