Judges 10-12: Jephthah the Outcast Judge

Judges 10, 11, + 12

In Judges 10, 11, and 12, we meet Israel’s 5th of the major judges. Starting with Othniel and moving down the line, the judges get more flawed and fatal.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

While Jephthah didn’t have a Bible bender for me, it did provide great lessons to apply today. Susan asks, “when we are unsure about what is right, do we seek the counsel of others who are wise? If we learn we have done something wrong, do we go to God for grace or justify our own way out? Do we know God well enough to know what is good in the eyes of the Lord? Or are we constantly tripping over the culture and falling for evil? How would our story begin? Hopefully, not like the Israelites with…’And the Christians did evil in the eyes of the Lord'”.

Have you considered these questions before for yourself? Is our instinct when we mess up to go to God for grace? I know that should be the case, but it’s not always my tendency.

What was your Bible bender from  Judges 10? Did you learn anything new?
