Deuteronomy 7, 8, and 9
This episode covers Deuteronomy 7, 8, and 9. Israel’s to-do list grows in this episode with three must-dos for their success in the Promised Land. While blessings abound if they do, death awaits them if they don’t. In the sermon, Moses leaves them a do-or-die list of sorts.
- Do destroy the nations currently living there.
- Do depend on the Lord.
- Do not become self-righteous.
HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:
The Bible bender for me in Deuteronomy 7-9. I don’t know if I’m in the minority but I can find the Israelite’s rebellious nature frustrating. I know this is probably because I see myself in their actions…
I loved when Susan ended the episode with thes questions: “What about us? Would Moses call us stubborn and rebellious? Are we a part of God’s mysterious grace?” Thankfully, Paul gave us the answer in Ephesians 2. (Go look it up–I don’t want to give too many spoilers!) Essentially, yes we fall into the rebellious category but we also thankfully, fall into the God’s grace as well. What a relief!
What was your Bible bender from Deuteronomy 7? Did you learn anything new?
