Deuteronomy 29-30: Seeing is Not Believing

Deuteronomy 29 and 30

This episode covers Deuteronomy 29 and 30! These chapters dive deeper into Moses’ third sermon, “To Choose God.”

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

The Bible bender for me in Deuteronomy 29-30 was the explanation of sight and sound in faith. In Moses’ time, the people were blind and deaf to the Holy Spirit prompting them. Isaiah promised that one day a king would come who would open the ears and eyes of the people so that their heart would understand.

Susan explained it like this in the episode, “To see and hear goes beyond just sight and sound; it transcends the heart and mind, providing spiritual perception. Israel saw, but did not perceive spiritually. They saw the miracles but didn’t see what God was doing because God had not given them eyes to see. Hebrews 10:1 says “the law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming-not the realities themselves.” The Israelites could not see past the veil that separated them from God, and so seeing was not believing. It was not until Christ came and the veil was torn that our eyes were opened to what God had planned from the beginning.”

What was your Bible bender from Deuteronomy 29? Did you learn anything new?
