Within 1 Samuel 2, the story of Eli’s wicked family is a sorry contrast to Samuel’s faithful family. We get an insight into Eli’s sons and Eli’s mentee of Samuel as Samuel grows into the prophet he was destined to become.
Samuel, a glaring contrast to Eli’s sons, grew just as Jesus did in Luke 2:52
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Samuel has moved from little water boy to a young man carrying the word of life. He is finding favor with the Lord and people. The contrast between Eli’s sons and Samuel is night and day, dark and light. Hophni and Phinehas are headed toward death, while Samuel grows in light and life.
