Saul is doomed; he does not have a heart for the Lord, and his success has gone to his head. Saul has even set up a monument in his own honor! The situation is so deplorable that God regrets that he ever made him king. Saul uses 3 tactics to defend himself: blame, justification, and minimalizing the seriousness. The bottom line is that there is no excuse for sin. And when we attempt to make one, we sound childishly foolish.

We are on a journey in a book with 1,189 chapters. The story has many characters and spans thousands of years. Throughout it all, God has had but one purpose, one overarching storyline: to provide a way for our salvation through His son, Jesus Christ. We are on that journey and next week we take a monumental leap to the story of the king that will lead to the king that will provide The Way.
