The Leviticus Outline

Leviticus Outline

This creative chart, the Leviticus Outline, designed by our awesome graphic designer Reed, shows the bridge Leviticus seems to take. The book itself in its first half, walks up the bridge, then in the second half, comes down the bridge mirroring itself.

As you can see in the visual, we start be handling the topic of ritual, then priesthood, and then purity. The pinnacle of the Leviticus bridge is the day of atonement, a big day for Israel. The day of atonement atoned for all forgotten unrepented sins from the whole previous year and there is a literal scapegoat involved. (I don’t want to ruin it so much sure to listen to all of Bible Book Club Season 3 to learn about that.)

Going back down the leviticus bridge, post day of atonement, the book covers purity, priesthood, and ritual again. It doesn’t repeat itself, just the broad topics themselves. After you walk (read) the bridge, the book concludes with a call to the Israelites. God calls them to covenant faithfulness so that he can dwell with them as never before.
