Here is an example of my daughter, Megan’s wedding vows. Pastor Denny Heiberg surpassed all of my expectations on what a wedding ceremony could look like. And as the mother of the bride you have control over a lot of the aspects of the wedding, but not the ceremony. That is totally reliant on the pastor–and you can’t control it. You have to hope that they will say something truly meaningful because it is an opportunity for him to share the love of God with everyone you love. It was amazing. Megan and I promised each other we wouldn’t cry, but his words pierced our hearts.

So, as those chosen by God for this new life of love,
dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Never be without it.
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. And cultivate thankfulness.
Let the Word of Christ—have the run of the house.
Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.
PRAYER:
Eternal God, source of love, pour out your grace upon MEGAN & HAMPTON, that they may fulfill the vows they have made this day and reflect Your steadfast love in their life-long faithfulness to each other.
Use us, O God, to support HAMPTON & MEGAN in their life together; and from your great storehouse of strength, give them power and patience, affection and understanding, courage and love, toward You, and toward one another.
And Father, may all married persons, who have witnessed these vows today, have their commitments strengthened and their loyalties confirmed.
