The Flood Phase IV: I Am A Little Black And Blue

It has been awhile since I updated you on our housing status post flood.  Today marks one month exactly and I am happy to report that we are no longer homeless.  We are not in our home but we have found a place to rent for the next 6-8 months.  It’s a condo on the Bayshore (we live in Tampa).  Today after work my daughter begged me to take a walk with her along the Bayshore.  I didn’t want to go.  I was…tired.

I went for the walk, when your kids want to spend time with you it’s hard to turn them down.  Smart move on my part because creation is so good at delivering insight.   This is what I saw – my mood in the sky.  I feel black and blue.  I feel black because we have faced a lot of trials lately and there always seems to be something else dark and looming ahead.   I feel blue because despite the fact that my mind knows these trials are temporary and God is in control, I still get overwhelmed.

Life is full of black and blue.  We can’t control the black clouds that roll into our lives but we can control how we view the blue.  And there is always blue on the horizon.  God is so good at painting pictures don’t you think?  I think I am going to like living on the Bayshore…
