Family meetings have been a great way for my husband and I to communicate with our children about all sorts of topics, both major and mundane. They really can be fun, informative and even creative! It’s always a good idea to start family meetings when your children are young. Establishing the lines of communication early can lay a great foundation for open dialogue through the years – and that will mean a lot as your children approach their teen years.

During the summer the bed bugs simply do not bite. Every one falls happily and contentedly into bed. I am relaxed and unrushed as I read and chat with them while tucking them sweetly into their beds. But…the back-to-school bedbugs are back and they’re biting. The kids don’t want to go to bed and I feel rushed to get them in bed so they won’t be tired for school.
To make bedtime a building and bonding time for you and your child try to do 3 things:
Build time into your evening so that you are not rushed to get your child in bed.
Build independence by training your child to be organized.
Build relationships by closing the day by sharing thoughts and encouraging words.
